Nordic Business Mission – TIKZN, NSBA – 12-25 May 2018

 

The Trade and Investment KwaZulu-Natal (TIKZN) mission in conjunction with the NSBA has been approved and is taking place 12-25 May 2018 . Herewith proposed sectors and proposed programme:

Trade and Investment KwaZulu-Natal will be undertaking a mission to the Nordic Region and Lithuania from 12-24 May 2018 with a business delegation .

 

The sectors of focus for the visit include:

  • Renewable energy/Cleantech
  • Circular Economy (Agriculture and food security, waste management technologies)
  • Infrastructure (water treatment, infrastructure developments,  Smart City technologies/digitalisation/ICT)
  • Waste management, where Denmark has experience with sustainable solutions.
  • Industrial product and food exports from KZN
  • Art, design and architecture, where Nordics has a long tradition for developing sustainable, environmentally friendly and innovative solutions to consumer needs and in terms of city planning etc.

The proposed programme is as follows:

Saturday 12 May :

  • Depart SA for Oslo via Amsterdam

 

Sunday    13 May :

  • Arrival in Oslo

 

Monday  14 May

  • Meeting with Ambassador Ramakgopa wrt doing businss in Nordic region
  • Seminar on Smart City technologies and KZN opportunities followed by B2B  in conjunction with Innovation Norway
  • Round-table on KZN opportunities (oil & gas, circular economy, etc.) in conjunction with Intergest focused around investment opportunities in specified sectors and exports of food products /industrial products from KZN

 

Tuesday 15 May

  • Seminar on commercialisation of Plastics in the Ocean and opportunities  followed by B2B with Innovation Norway
  • Flight to Copenhagen, Denmark

 

Wednesday 16 May

  • Attendance of multi -sectoral networking seminar on Africa arranged by Nordekon
  • TIKZN hosted dinner with SA Embassy, IFU, Intergest and companies investing in SA (Africapace, No Nationality Clothing etc), together with Danish Industries focused on investment and export opportunities for KZN

 

Thursday 17 May : 

  • Business seminar and B2B on opportunities in KZN etc. by Intergest (renewable energy/cleantech, circular economy (water, food processing, agriculture) waste management), smart cities (ICT etc), exports of food and industrial products)
  • Site visit to Innovation Technologies projects/companies seeking joint ventures by Frederik Petursson Madsen (Innovation Consultant to Danish Industries)

 

Friday 18 May:

  • Flight to Sweden
  • Breakfast seminar on digitalisation round-table arranged in conjunction Business Sweden for multi-sectoral applications.
  • Lunch seminar on KZN in partnership with South African Swedish Chamber on KZN opportunities and export

 

Saturday 19 May

  • Site visits to Fotografiska, museum quarter etc.

 

Sunday 20 May

  • City tour

 

Monday 21 May

  • Depart for Malmo
  • Nordic Energy Experience , Malmo (Programme for Noridic Energy Week enclosed) as part of Nordic Clean Energy Week

 

Tuesday 22 May 

  • Flight to Helsinki from Malmo
  • Business round-table arranged in conjunction with Business Finland on biomass, energy , cleantech etc. in conjunction with Business Hub Finland
  • TIKZN sponsored dinner with Finnish business doing business in SA (Nokia etc.) and proposed project showcasing

 

Wednesday 23 May

  • Flight to Vilnus, Lithuania
  • Round-table and B2B meeting with the companies scoping South African Market arranged in conjunction with Foreign Ministry focused on ICT, automotive and manufacturing opportunities in KZN and JV opportunities

 

Thursday 24 May

  •  Site visits to Supercomputing Institute, demonstration of transport technology projects, automotive component manufacturers site visits keen to manufacture and export in SA

 

Friday 25 May 

  • Return flight via Amsterdam
